KALP Samaj Sevi Sanstha has welcomed the international recognition of efforts to eliminate child marriage, describing it as a landmark achievement for child rights advocates and communities working to ensure a safe and dignified childhood for every child.
The announcement of *27 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Child Marriage* marks an important step in strengthening global commitment towards ending child marriage and protecting children's rights. The recognition highlights the growing momentum of campaigns and collective actions undertaken by governments, civil society organisations, communities, and child rights defenders across the world. As a partner organisation of *Just Rights for Children (JRC)*, KALP has been actively working in Chhattisgarh to prevent child marriage through community awareness programmes, school-based campaigns, village-level interventions, and collaboration with local authorities. The organisation continues to promote access to education, child protection services, and legal awareness among vulnerable families and communities.
To commemorate this milestone, awareness activities were conducted in rural communities and educational institutions, encouraging children, youth, teachers, parents, and community leaders to pledge their support for a child marriage-free future. The campaign emphasised that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and realise their full potential without the burden of early marriage.
KALP representatives noted that while important progress has been achieved, continued efforts are necessary to address the social, economic, and cultural factors that contribute to child marriage. Strengthening community participation, promoting girls' education, and ensuring effective implementation of child protection laws remain critical for achieving lasting change.
