KALP Samaj Sevi Sanstha, with the support of Just Rights for Children (JRC), organised a two-day “Safe Child Village” training workshop aimed at strengthening community-based child protection mechanisms and advancing the vision of a Child Marriage-Free India.
The workshop brought together frontline workers, community representatives, government officials, and child rights stakeholders to enhance their understanding of child protection systems and effective strategies for preventing child marriage.
Key sessions focused on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (PCMA), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, child safeguarding mechanisms, identification of vulnerable children, reporting procedures, and inter-departmental coordination. Resource persons provided practical insights into legal provisions and community-level interventions required for protecting children’s rights.
Representatives from the police department, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Women and Child Development Department, and civil society organisations participated actively in the programme. Discussions highlighted the importance of timely reporting, legal action, and coordinated efforts among stakeholders to ensure child safety and well-being.
The training also emphasised the concept of a *“Safe Child Village”*, encouraging communities to create an environment where every child can grow, learn, and thrive free from violence, exploitation, child marriage, and other forms of abuse.
