About Project
In January 2009 KALP Samaj Sewi Sanstha began targeted intervention Program (TI) for female sex workers (FSW) in Janjgir-Champa District of Chhattisgarh. The focus of the intervention is to increase access to HIV/AIDS and STI Prevention, Care-Support and Treatment Services.
Targeted Intervention Project is totally based on the project components. In keeping with the goals and objectives, the primary focus of NACP–III is to halt and reverse the spread of the HIV epidemic in India by 2012. The program plans to cover 80 percent of HRGs with primary prevention services, including:
- Treatment for sexually transmitted infections
- Condom provision
- Behavior change communication
- Creating an enabling environment with
- Community involvement and participation
- Linkages to care and support services
Kalp is completed NACP III from 2009-2013.
Major Achievements:
- Throughout the years Female Sex Workers were registered in project.
- FSW’s were referred to the ICTC out of which have done their HIV testing and for syphilis testing.
- FSW’s were linked in project link Clinic’s.
- FSW’s were treated under STI treatment and their regular follow-up was done for the same.
- Target communities actively participated in Red-Ribbon Express Event conducted in Champa.
- Thousands Group Discussions were conducted by staff and Peer-Educators on various project related topics.
- Establish good coordination and linkages with service providers for providing better improved services to the target population.
- KALP has organized a GIPA supported program through which 8 PLHIVS were motivated for treatment and later on they were linked with ART centers.
- Four awareness programs were conducted to create awareness for HRG on various related project issues.
- KALP has organized yearly Community Events for FSWs Community. In these events FSWs have contributed and participated actively.
- Human Rights Day program was conducted for HRGs in which they were informed and become aware of their human rights by experts.
